Journey Beyond Cruise Sydney

Cruising the most beautiful harbour in the world in a 78ft luxury vessel seems like something only for the rich and famous.

Add a mouth-watering feast and bottomless glasses of delicious NSW wines, and it conjures up an image you might see in your Instagram feed.

But in fact, it’s not out of reach and a must-experience for any Sydneysider.

As a lover of all things cruising, the last 7 months have been torturous. I miss being on the water, and so when the opportunity came up to take along 30 friends for a day on the Harbour, how could I resist?

Read on to know what it’s like aboard Cruise Sydney

Embarkation

You know that feeling when you know you’re in for something special? Well standing at the Wharf 8, King St Wharf Sydney watching the sleek 78ft Migloo majestically arrive instantly sparks the butterflies.

During normal time, the boat seats just 90 people, but during this Covid social distancing restrictive period, capacity has been reduced giving passengers an exclusive and prestigious experience.

As we stepped aboard, the wonderful crew checked off the passenger’s names, offered hand sanitiser and then handed each a flute of bubbly.

After a brief safety briefing by Captain Frank, the cruise was ready to begin.

The Vessel

Spacious, modern, bright and beautiful, the three-levels - top, fore and aft decks - the vessel offers passengers 360-degree views of the picturesque Sydney Harbour.

While all the seating areas are comfortable, my favourite spot is right at the front, where there is stepped seating - the perfect place to see all the iconic landmarks dotted in the harbour.

The top deck feels like a private sanctuary – a place to relax in a semi-covered area, protected from the elements.

For those who want a more secluded place to host a private gathering, the Migloo also boasts has a separate dining area.

Culinary Offerings

Tables with crisp linen and vases of flowers were set with silverware and menus, ready for our culinary adventure to begin.

What’s really special about the food aboard Cruise Sydney, is that it takes you on a culinary adventure inspired by locally sourced, regionally inspired delights. As the chef and catering comes carer of Dolton House, my expectations were high, and I was definitely not disappointed.

The lunch offering was a two-course affair, paired with a selection of beers, wines, soft drinks and tea or coffee. All wines are selected by our sommelier from some of the finest wine regions in NSW.

Servings were generous – and if you’re a sweet tooth, you’ll delight in the dessert plate of three lovely cakes.

The Voyage

There’s no better way to explore the harbour than by being right on it! During the 2.5 hour voyage, Captain Frank and his crew take you on a scenic trip, under the Harbour Bridge, past Luna Park, around the various islands, Taronga Zoo and other magical spots.

What I thoroughly enjoyed was getting up close to all the other vessel on the water, all gliding by, frolicking on the sparkling sea.

The Crew

It would be remiss of me to not mention the professional, friendly and wonderful service. The team aboard know how to ensure your cruise is an enjoyable and hassle-free affair. Nothing was too much for them to guarantee full tummies, lots of smiles and priceless memories.

Cruise Sydney is a gem in a pool of the many harbour cruises on offer in Sydney. Not only are the culinary offerings enough to lure any foodie, the vessel, the crew and the overall ambiance makes for a truly special adventure.

And, let’s not forget the supreme host ‘Captain’ Craig Owens who is a sparkling ambassador and a an absolute asset to the company.
