Two years ago, I crossed off a life-long bucket list experience – snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef.
As most things in life however, often the fantasy one has built up in one’s head doesn’t match the reality.
Don’t get me wrong, I was enthralled by the wonders of the reef, however having never snorkeled before, I wasn’t prepared for the trickery of using a regular snorkel and mask.
As avid readers of my blog, you know how, a) I’m utterly uncoordinated and b) move at a stupidly fast pace without putting much thought into my (uncoordinated) movements. Combine the two, plus attempting to breathe underwater, and you get a spluttering mess.
If only I had a full-face snorkel mask! Not only would I have not swallowed many mouthfuls of brine, but I would have enjoyed the experience eleventy-hundred times more.

Well, simply it’s the unicorn of all snorkel masks that ANY one can use. Yes, even ME. It provides a 180° viewing area and the dry Snorkel Technology stops salt water from getting into your mouth which prevents gagging. You can breathe from your mouth and your nose without fear of drowning while exploring the wonders under the sea.
There are a lot of these types of masks selling online and in retail shops at the moment, but the AquaGear Australia mask has the biggest viewing area of any snorkelling gear on the market right now. It takes about three seconds to put on and is super comfy to wear.
And, if all that doesn’t sound incredible, AquaGear has just launched the AquaMask II. This new model includes new features such as the new foldable breathing tube, making it much easier to install and store.
Plus, the AquaMask II has a portable GoPro mount that works really well with GoPro or other action camera. You can even mount your Iphone with a ProShot Case which turns your Iphone into an underwater camera!
There are five colours: black-red, black-blue, white-blue, white-pink and grey-orange and the masks come in three different sizes. You can check out the sizing chart here:
